Body Composition

Regardless of which weight loss path you choose, as you lose weight, your metabolism can change. That’s why at TWLC we consistently track your metabolism and body composition to ensure your body is getting what it needs — especially to protect your muscle mass and keep your metabolism strong.

Indirect Calorimetry

This simple, non-invasive tool measures your Resting Metabolic Rate (RMR) — or how many calories your body burns at rest. Breathing into a small device for 10 minutes calculates how much oxygen your body uses, which tells your care team how much energy (calories) your body needs to function when you're not active. This test is repeated throughout your journey to ensure your body is still getting what it needs.

Tanita Body Composition Scale

A Tanita scale is a type of body composition scale that uses bioelectrical impedance analysis (BIA) to estimate various body measurements beyond just weight. These measurements can include body fat percentage, muscle mass, bone mass, body water percentage, visceral fat and even metabolic age.
